Unlike many types of content where the mark of great content is did it entertain, did it grab and keep attention, did the person finish it? The mark of a great course is does it complete the goal of teaching what you want to teach? Was your student able to complete the course and then do the task if it’s a task related goal, make the behavioral change if it’s a behavioral goal, or recall the content if it’s a memorization and recall type of goal. Even the most entertaining content wouldn’t be a successful course, if it didn’t successfully teach the student the desired outcome.
In a bit of a quandary w/ LMS. We are a small religious order with a newly formed seminary wherein we would like to offer an eLearning option. Most of the sources described above are either web-based/ clud based platforms. We would like something more like an authoring tool platform, like Moodle, to create our courses and track everything from our own website.

It is a very feature rich platform that was clearly developed by people serious about e-learning (and the founder, Justin Ferriman, does have a long background in e-learning).
Apart from these feature TouchCast also provides valuable analytics and comes with a variety of interactive elements that are called video apps (vApps): Image vApps, Video inside a video, PDF vApps, Dropbox vApps, Video vApps, Hotspot vApps, YouTube vApps, Photo and Map vApps, Google Drive vApps, etc. Vapps are prepared at the beginning of a project by the creators who are expected to record the video along with the interaction, so that it can be saved.
Completely agree – I’ve heard many stories about people using Moodle and then finding that they either don’t have the time/expertise to configure things themselves, or don’t have the budget to engage a consulting firm to do it for them. Out of the box solutions are much better for small businesses as they can get started easily themselves at a relatively low pricepoint.
If any technical glitches pop up during this stage, notify the technology team members so those can be rectified. Pay attention as well to the overall look of the program. Are you using a white label software and incorporating your own company’s branding and design? Now is the time to check and ensure your online course presents a professional image and is easy to read and navigate.
You may have heard that people have learning styles. Visual learners learn with visuals like video, diagrams, and even text. Auditory learners need to hear the information, and kinesthetic learners learn by touching or doing. In actuality, there are a variety of learning style theories some with many more styles than the simplified three above. There is also much debate in the education fields about the validity of these theories.
Online teacher professional development has been critiqued for its relative failure vis-à-vis face-to-face instruction to integrate theory with practice. As such, concepts such as “pedagogical knowledge” remain more conceptual than practical – focusing on knowledge about practice versus knowledge in practice. Using real-time video –such as a videoconferencing system or web cameras– can capture practice “live” (though stationery video systems may not provide a full picture of student interactions and behaviors). Videorecording teachers’ practice at certain points in the school year can provide a visual archive of teacher progression or regression in a certain area. And video can also be shared with other teachers as a study tool.
And as soon as you finish recording the audio you just hit on to the next slides and it creates what timing, takes a bit of time but it's all cool while you doing that I was just getting my YouTube channel ready to be uploaded and yeah the good old bouncing Samurai, the content samurai knows I love him ... [laughing] and the next thing to do is actually go through and listen just double check your video.

The bulk of the work will occur in this step wherein you’ll develop the course content. Even so, this process need not be time-consuming. Start by thinking about what content you already have developed — whether those be PowerPoint presentations, hard-copy or digital training manuals, videos (pre-recorded webinars or product demos), or support articles. Organize those pieces in a cohesive manner. So you’re not overwhelmed by an overabundance of files that can lead to distraction, select only those materials that have a direct correlation to the learning objectives you defined.
Learning Cart has been fantastic for me! I entered the field on Teachable because they provide a lot of guidance on how to get your course(s) noticed. But, I soon felt the technology was lacking and I didn’t get much from their guidance. So, I moved to Thinkific who has a little bigger feature set, but their tools for creating the home and landing pages were not very flexible and did not offer much for customizing, unless you are a coder. After researching over 50 LMS I chose Learning Cart. Their tools for customizing their template are much better and they have all the features I need. Most of all, their support is fantastic! With that said, our business model is to provide training on a wide range of business topics, from technical to management. I do not teach any of the courses. Instead, I find experts who have a course or idea and want to make some money, I market the courses and manage the site. You just teach!
